CSWPGP Complete 16 Week Pet Grooming: 352 Clk Hrs

  • Demonstration: Toy Breed
  • Special Care of the Young & Old
  • Bathing and Drying Techniques
  • Conditioning the Coat
  • Ear Maintenance
  • Nails: Cutting and Grinding
  • Blow Drying Techniques
  • Begin Clipper Techniques
  • Begin "Ruff Cuts"
  • Study and Interpret Breed Standards of the Toy and Terrier Groups
  • Demonstration: Terrier Breed
  • Work Ethic
  • Test

Second Four Weeks: 88 Hours

  • Beginning Thinning Shear Techniques
  • Dematting and Shed-outs
  • Proper use of Magnet Stripper and Rake
  • Demonstrations: Sporting and Non-Sporting
  • Study and Interpret Breed Standards of the Sporting and Non-Sporting Groups
  • Q&A with AKC Judge
  • Prioritizing Time and Speed Techniques
  • Shop Management and Operations
  • Test

Third Four Weeks: 88 Hours

  • Mixed Breed Magic
  • Practice Scissor Techniques
  • Heads and Enhancing Expression
  • Study and Interpret Breed Standards of the Hound and Working Groups
  • Some Rare Breeds
  • Cat Bathing, Drying and Grooming
  • Demonstrations: Hound and Working Breeds
  • Veterinarian Lecture (see vet curriculum)
  • Test

Fourth Four Weeks: 88 Hours

  • Demonstration: Grooming the Poodle for Show
  • Guest Lecturer
  • Finishing Techniques
  • Scissoring and Thinning Systematically
  • Demonstration: Herding Breed
  • Study and Interpret Breed Standards of The Miscellaneous Class and the Herding Group
  • Video
  • Field trip to Local Dog Show
  • Test

Sixteen week program includes:

  • Field Trip to a local Dog Show
  • Guest Lecturers
  • Some Show Grooming

Students have a one half hour lunch break.

Basic Curriculum: 8 Weeks: 176 Hours

Complete 12 Week Curriculum: 264 Hours

Advanced Curriculum: 8 Weeks: 176 Hours
